Twisha Sharma used ‘schizophrenic drug, admits to consuming marijuana’: Mother-in-law rejects dowry claim | Today’s news
Twisha Sharma ‘Dowry’ Death Case: Mother-in-law Twisha Sharma claimed on Monday that the 33-year-old was on a “schizophrenic drug”.
Giribala Singha former judge, denied dowry allegations, saying: “We even gave up our family property for Twisa’s family.”
Singh said Twisha “admitted to consuming large amounts of marijuana when she wanted to reverse her pregnancy . . .”
Twisha was found hanged at her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12, just months after her December 2025 wedding to Samarth, whom she met in 2024 on a dating app.
While a Special Investigation Team (SIT) began investigating the case, her family alleged that she was systematically tortured and murdered for dowry.

To face dowry charges, the retired judge attached online transaction slips ranging from ₹5,000 up to ₹50,000 saying they regularly looked after Twisa’s needs.
However, Twisha’s family furiously rubbished the allegations, presenting a different timeline of events and describing Twisha as a cheerful and happy girl who changed drastically after her marriage and lost 15 kilograms due to relentless mental torture.
Was Twisha a ‘schizophrenic patient’?
Giribala Singh told reporters on Monday that Twish was prescribed medication that is given to a “schizophrenic patient”. She claimed that Twisha was a psychiatric patient and a drug addict whose hands and legs would tremble without access to narcotics.
Singh claimed, “She (Twisha) would remain stable for about a day, but again there would be a slight change in her condition.”
“We observed some physical symptoms, a slight tremor in her hands which is typical of withdrawal symptoms… She destroyed everything…,” Giribala Singh said.
‘Medical termination of pregnancy’
Giribala Singh said on Monday that the victim underwent medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) and claimed that the victim’s parents were away for several months.
She added that Twisha expressed regret after the MTP process began.
“When she started the first MTP course, she said she wanted to reverse it, which I knew was impossible. She didn’t let us feel that fleeting moment of joy. It’s really heartbreaking; young girls often take this drastic step,” Singh said.

Twisha’s mother-in-law went on to provide a timeline for the medical procedure, saying that on May 7, Twisha “had to take the pill; she went through the whole MTP procedure and we had to support her…
The mother-in-law also made serious allegations against Twisha’s parents, questioning their absence and the father’s professional background.
“I also called her mother as they needed her there. For five months her parents never visited each other…” claimed the mother-in-law.
“We purposely did not call her husband, he has a very special nature. He has been working in the pharmaceutical industry for almost twenty years – specifically in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, he could potentially be a source of many things…,” she claimed.
