US President Donald Trump has personally reached out to Apple over its push to rename Lake Ontario “Lake America”, with Interior Secretary Doug Burgum saying the tech company could soon make the change to its mapping service.

Trump is “directly” asking Apple to rename Lake Ontario to Lake America

The development comes days after Trump formally ordered the renaming of the lake in US federal databases, adding another flashpoint to the increasingly strained relationship between Washington and Ottawa.

“The president has reached out directly to Apple, so I’m sure we can see that change in Lake America very soon,” Burgum said Monday in an interview on Fox Business’ Mornings with Maria.

Apple did not immediately comment on the remarks.
