Trump calls PM Modi ‘greatest leader’ along with Xi Jinping — What he said on set of Hollywood film about the two | Today’s news

US President Donald Trump has categorized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping as the two biggest leaders on the world stage. In an interview with Axios, the 80-year-old Republican described the characteristics of each that make them stand out. Trump not only called PM Modi “great” but also “a very tough cookie” when asked about the two most admirable world leaders from his two terms as president.

In a viral clip where Trump made such insider revelations about his personal beliefs, he said he considers Xi Jinping the greatest in terms of leadership. While considering power and leverage and the ability to carry out orders, he named Prime Minister Modi and said, “Well, I think Modi is very good, yes. They have reported some very good numbers. He avoids wars, which is smart. He has 1.5 billion people, he is actually the biggest, India is actually the biggest. Modi is a great leader.”

Trump said this on “The Axios Show” on Thursday, shortly after returning from the G7 summit in France. Trump also referred to India’s tariff policy, noting: “We do a lot of business with them. But now we do fair business. They used to really rip us off. I don’t blame them for that. You know we have stupid politicians who let that happen. But now we do a lot of business and they’re not happy about it because they used to do a lot better, so… but Modi is great, President X.”

He praised the personality and aura of Prime Minister Modi and Xi Jinping and suggested that if someone ever wanted to make a film about the two, they would not find a suitable partner in Hollywood to take on their roles.

Arguing that Prime Minister Modi is a very tough cookie, he noted: “You know I mean a classic. If you’re going to make a movie about one of them, you’re not going to find that man in Hollywood. I’m telling you, it’s like an example, Xi’s looks are great, you know. It doesn’t seem to matter that you don’t talk about it, right? You know, he’s tall, he’s two meters tall, he’s got a great figure, he’s got a lot of confidence and he’s smart, he’s very respected.

When asked by a journalist about Trump’s definition of a great leader, Trump called PM Modi a “very tough guy” as he described the PM’s “calmness”. Donald Trump praised his “friend,” saying: “Yesterday, as an example, I’m going to mention that name again because it’s pretty cool, you know. I’ve been watching India all my life – they’ve been changing, changing, changing. Someone’s been there for six months and then a year, and then suddenly Prime Minister Modi ends up there. It’s more than great, it’s very good, it’s very good, it’s happy and peaceful.” he is not a calm person, he is a very tough guy.’

The remarks came nearly 48 hours after Trump praised Prime Minister Modi at a joint press conference at the G7 summit.
