Truck catches fire after collision with bike on Kanakapura road; injured rider

Tension gripped the busy Kanakapura main road on Monday (September 28) afternoon after a truck and a motorcycle caught fire following a freak accident in Talaghattapura. A motorcyclist was injured in the collision.

According to Talaghattapura traffic police, the accident took place around 12.30 pm when a motorcycle collided with a truck. Soon after the accident, the engine compartment of the truck caught fire, sending thick clouds of smoke into the air and disrupting traffic on the busy stretch.

The injured rider was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the truck driver reportedly escaped with minor injuries.

HZS personnel went to the scene and brought the fire under control. Traffic police cordoned off the area and briefly diverted vehicles to facilitate firefighting efforts and the removal of damaged vehicles.

After the evacuation, traffic returned to normal.

The police registered the case and started an investigation. CCTV footage from nearby businesses and eyewitness accounts are being reviewed to establish the exact sequence of events leading up to the collision and subsequent fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
