PA Tourism Minister Mohamed Riyas is launching the ‘Yaanam 2025’ travel literature festival in Varkala on Friday.
Bringing together travel writers, vloggers and social media influencers from around the world, the first edition of Kerala Tourism’s ‘Yaanam 2025’ literary festival began in Varkala on Friday.
Inaugurating the three-day festival at Ranga Kala Kendram on the Cliff here, Tourism Minister PA Mohamed Riyas said the festivity will be an annual event of Kerala Tourism to bring together writers, artists and travel enthusiasts from across the world to share their experiences through engaging talks.
The event would also showcase Kerala’s diverse offerings to a global audience. The festival set the stage for experts to share their insights and perspectives on sustainable and inclusive tourism to meet the demands of today’s travelers. Concluding the event as a groundbreaking initiative by Kerala Tourism, Mr. Riyas said that ‘Yaanam’ is a confluence of globally acclaimed travel enthusiasts who have explored new trails in travel literature and their visual journeys.

“The festival will boost the tourism prospects of Varkala specifically by showcasing the tourism potential of this picturesque coastal town to the world. It will give impetus to the arrival of tourists to this picturesque destination,” he said. “It is also an attempt to present the tourism aspects of the state before avid travelers, apart from portraying Kerala through their writings and captivating visuals,” he said. The minister added that ‘Yaanam’ will offer comprehensive and interactive workshops on topics like writing and photography.
Travel vlogger and actor Anumol, who was the chief guest at the event, said it was a great initiative to create a unique platform to interact with like-minded people, share ideas and suggestions and support each other to build a community. “Traveling has helped me become more compassionate and empathetic, in addition to being patient and a better human being,” she added.
Kerala Tourism Secretary Biju K. welcomed the gathering while V. Joy, MLA presided over the function. Festival director Sabin Iqbal introduced ‘Yaanam 2025’. Fete has an impressive line-up of around 50 renowned speakers from India and abroad who will share their perspectives and experiences. In addition to insightful discussions, “Yaanam” will host educational workshops on writing, photography and wellness, catering to both amateurs and professionals looking to improve their skills.
