Traffic jam! BCCI CoE is gearing up for an influx of contracted, targeted players from India

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru is buzzing with activity as the facility prepares for a strong influx of contracted and targeted players in the coming week. TimesofIndia.com has learned that by the end of this week, nearly a dozen Indian cricketers are likely to be at the facility for various reasons. While players like Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Varun Chakaravarthy, Harshit Rana and Akash Deep are already there, they will be joined by Washington Sundar and a few others.It is understood that the Test hopefuls have been asked to report for a fitness assessment ahead of next month’s tour of Sri Lanka. Mohammed Siraj is expected to arrive at the facility this week and could be joined by Ravindra Jadeja. Targeted players like Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan and Abhishek Porel have already been evaluated and the CoE staff expects many more in the coming days before the players make it to their respective zonal squads in the Duleep Trophy.“Hardik has been training there, Reddy is recovering and Varun and Harshit are undergoing rehabilitation. The team management does not want to take any chances with their players ahead of the Test series in Sri Lanka. There will be thorough assessments and the selectors will be briefed on their status before the squad is selected for the two Tests. The CoE has a clear idea of the targeted players for Bengal in the Redball tournament.
