
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday (January 22, 2026) virtually inaugurated the extended Okkijam Maduvu Bridge at Rajiv Gandhi Salai constructed by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) at a cost of ₹ 60 crore. It would help improve waterway flow and connectivity in the Pallikaranai marsh area.
Mr. Stalin also practically unveiled the foundation for the construction of an integrated building to house the multi-modal facility at the Mandaveli Bus Terminal and Depot at a total cost of ₹ 167.09 crore. The building connecting the subway network and the final bus service would cover 6,625 m2. and would have a built-up area of 29,385 m2.
The construction of the project by Chennai Metro Asset Management Limited is expected to be completed in two years. Minister SS Sivasankar, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam and senior officials participated.
