1. Karnataka BJP will get a new leader

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed new leaders and co-leaders for its Karnataka unit, apparently to prepare the party for the next parliamentary elections due in 2028.

The party’s national general secretary Harish Dvivedhi, who was earlier working as the in-charge of Assam, has been appointed in-charge of the party’s Karnataka unit. Mr. Dvivedihi is a former Member of Parliament who is known for his election strategies. He is expected to prepare the Karnataka BJP unit for the next assembly elections.

Mr. Dvivedhi replaces Dr. Radhamohan Das Agarwal, who till now commanded the Karnataka BJP unit. Dr. Kasam Venkanteshwaralu has been appointed co-in-charge for the state.

2. Demand for Special Session of Karnataka Legislature on Caste Survey

Congress member BS Shivanna brought up the controversial socio-economic survey (caste census) conducted by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes. On September 23, during a discussion on drought in the Assembly, he said that the state government should convene a special meeting to discuss the Madhusudan Naik Commission survey report in detail.

“The government has spent hundreds of crores to conduct a survey. It should not go into cold storage. People need to know the details of the report,” Mr. Shivanna said. The report was submitted to Mr. Siddaramaiah a day before he resigned as Chief Minister. Since then, he has spoken several times about the need to implement the recommendations.

3. Parking receipt without vehicle number will be found by Upa Lokayukta B. Veerappa at Chikkodi Bus Stand

Upa Lokayukta Judge B. Veerappa paid a surprise visit to the bus stand at Chikkodi in Belagavi district on September 24. He visited various food stalls at the bus station and checked the quality of food sold.

In the buffet of the bus station, he inspected the food preparation area and the warehouse. He emphasized the need to serve quality food to customers and prioritize cleanliness.

He inquired about the wages paid to the workers and directed the management to ensure payment of minimum wages as per government guidelines.
