Tiruchi and Karur under heavy security blanket for CM Vijay’s visit

Tiruchi and Karur will be placed under heightened security in connection with Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s visit on Friday (July 10, 2026). This will be Mr. Vijay’s first visit to Karur after becoming the Chief Minister.
Comprehensive security plans have been drawn up separately by the Tiruchi city and district police as the chief minister will reach Karur by road from the Tiruchi international airport. Chief Minister lays foundation stone for footwear project in Karur and distributes appointment orders to relatives of Karur stampede victims. He will speak at a meeting in this city.
Police sources said the Chief Minister will reach Tiruchi around 10.30 am by a special flight from Chennai and will proceed to Karur by road. On the eve of the Chief Minister’s visit, the police organized an Advanced Security Liaison meeting with other stakeholders at the airport.
Elaborate arrangements have been made at Atlas Kalaiarangam in Karur, where the Chief Minister will address a public meeting. A government event was organized in the Collectorate. Sources said elaborate security arrangements have been made by mobilizing and strengthening manpower from the central zone and other zones. This will be in addition to the police force mobilized by the Karur district police authorities.
The Inspector General of Police, Central Zone, five Deputy Inspector Generals of Police, 23 Superintendents of Police / Deputy Commissioners / Commandants, five other Superintendents of Police and 76 Deputy Superintendents of Police, among other ranks, form part of the security arrangements. Manpower was drawn from the armed police and the Tamil Nadu Special Police. A separate force was mobilized to regulate automobile traffic.
Security on the route would be ensured from Tiruchi to Karur and back by deploying police personnel along the national highway. More than 6,000 policemen are to be deployed for security duty at various places in view of the Chief Minister’s visit, sources said.
TS Anbu, Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Thas supervised security arrangements in Karur. Sources said that Mr. Vijay will arrive at Tiruchi airport around 6 pm and head back to Chennai on a special flight.
