Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde termed the incident of shooting at actor Tiger Shroff’s car as “unfortunate” and said the police would respond to the shooters in their own language. On Sunday (October 18, 2026) evening, three unidentified men on a bike arrived at Mumbai’s Pushpa Park in South, with two of them allegedly opening fire on the actor’s car before fleeing.

“I have spoken to the Mumbai Police Commissioner. They have formed special teams to investigate the matter. We will get them. We will answer them in a language they understand. We are responsible for the security of Mumbaikars. It is our priority,” he told The Hindu on Sunday (October 18, 2026) evening. He said that he had already spoken to the actor and assured him of strict action in this matter.

Responding to a question regarding incidents of shooting at celebrities related to the Hindi film industry, he said the government would take action to stop it. “Actors have been threatened in the last few months. They are being terrorized. We will not let such criminals go. We will also review security arrangements for celebrities,” he said.

When asked about the gang that claimed responsibility for the attack, Mr. Shinde said, “Whichever gang is responsible, we will not abandon them. Recalling the era of the 1990s when gang wars led to a bloodbath on the streets of Mumbai, Mr. Shinde said that the Mumbai Police ruled the force even then. “Gangs have come out publicly and claimed responsibility for attacks. But the Mumbai Police eliminated them at that time. We will not tolerate the handiwork of any gangs here,” he said.

NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique, who lost his father Baba Siddique in a shootout in Mumbai a few years ago, said the incidents of celebrity shootings indicate the failure of intelligence agencies in Mumbai. He demanded immediate action in this matter.
