Asian Para Games 2026: India’s complete schedule for October 19, Nishad Kumar in medal contention

Indian para athletes will begin a busy day of competition at the 2026 Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan on Monday, October 19, after the opening ceremony on Sunday. Several Indian stars including Nishad Kumar, Avani Lekhar, Sheetal Devi, Harvinder Singh and Pramod Bhagat will be in action across disciplines.India will compete in Para Athletics, Para Badminton, Para Swimming, Para Archery, Para Shooting, Para Powerlifting, Para Table Tennis, Boccia, Blind Football and Para Cycling, with multiple medal events scheduled throughout the day.

Nishad Kumar, Deepthi Jeevanji Lead Athletics Challenge

Nishad Kumar will compete in the men’s T47 long jump final at 13:40 IST, while Deepthi Jeevanji is scheduled to compete in the women’s 400m T20 heats at 14:10. Ajeet Singh Yadav and Rinku Hooda will feature in the men’s javelin F46 final at 3.35pm, followed by Radha Venkatesh and Soumya in the women’s 1500m T12/T13 final at 3.55pm. Pranav Desai will compete in the men’s 200m T64 final at 4.30pm.

Avani Lekhara, Sheetal Devi among the key names in the event

Avani Lekhara and Mona Agarwal will compete in the Women’s R2 Air Rifle 10m Standing SH1 Qualifier at 6:30 AM IST. Sheetal Devi and Payal Nag will begin their para-archery campaign at 4.30 am, along with Harvinder Singh and Vijay Sundi in their respective rounds of evaluation.Pramod Bhagat will take on South Korea’s Lee Seunghu in the SL3 men’s singles group stage at 7.05am. Bhagat will later partner Sukanta Kadam in the SL3-SU5 men’s doubles match against Indonesia at noon.

India’s medal events in Para Swimming and Powerlifting

India will have several medal opportunities in para swimming. Gopichand Lingutla and Niranjan Mukundan are on the agenda in the men’s S7 400m freestyle final at 1.30pm, followed by Vaishnavi Jagtap in the women’s 400m freestyle S8 final at 1.38pm. Himanshu Nandal and Ravi Budigina will also compete in the swimming finals during the afternoon.In para powerlifting, Jaspreet Kaur will compete in the women’s 45kg final at 1pm, while Manish Kumar and Paramjeet Kumar will compete in the men’s 59kg final at 2.30pm.

India face Thailand in blind football

Indian Blind Men’s Football Team will take on Thailand in the preliminary round match at 9:00 AM IST. Arshad Shaikh will also compete in the qualifying round of the Men’s C1-2 3000m Para Cycling event at 7.19am.
