David Miller admits frustration (Image: X/Screengrab) David Miller admitted he felt frustrated after being left out of the Delhi Capitals playing XI for the last two matches of IPL 2026, but the veteran South African batsman insists he fully understands the demands of the team combinations in the tournament.Before the Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders match in Delhi where Miller was again on the bench and the result was the same for home Delhi as they lost their 5th home game in a row. Powered by a century from Finn Allen, KKR secured their fourth win of the season.Miller acknowledged that missing out is never easy, especially for a player who has been a regular part of the IPL since 2012. However, he insisted that overseas balance and tactical combinations remain a priority.

The structure with only four overseas players in the playing XI means the combinations are really important for the team,” Miller said.DC opted for Pathum Nissanko at the top of the order while fielding overseas pacers Mitchell Starc and Lungi Ngidi, leaving Miller sidelined. Despite the disappointment, the veteran batsman said he remains determined to contribute positively to the team.“I have been here for a long time. This is not my first IPL so I understand the composition of the teams. My focus is to continue to give positive feedback to the team, stay supportive and contribute to the team as much as I can,” he added.Miller also emphasized that he remains ready in case another opportunity comes along during the season.“I want to stay ready and prepare really well. That’s what players like to do, whether the opportunity comes or not,” he said.The 2026 season has been difficult for Miller so far. In seven innings, he scored just 123 runs at a strike rate of 146.42. While he remained unbeaten on four occasions, his best contribution remains 41* off 20 balls against Gujarat Titans earlier in the season, an innings that is remembered as much for the controversial dropped single as the late flourish itself.
