
The auxiliary teacher reportedly defeated 31 students because after the morning prayers in the Mayurbhanj district in Odish did not touch their feet.
The teacher was placed under the suspension after her humiliating behavior had the students injured. The incident occurred on Thursday (September 11, 2025) at the Government Higher Elementary School in Khandadeule, under the Betnoti block, when the teacher, the Sukants Kar, reportedly arrived late and expected the respect of students.
“Mrs. Kar probably felt offended because the students did not touch her feet as a sign of respect. Then she went to classes VI, VII and VIII and asked who did not.
“Students were beaten by a bamboo wand. I personally found a few with bruises on their hands. One child had to be given first aid and the girl even shortly lost consciousness,” Beo added.
He stressed that the corporal punishment was strictly prohibited in all schools across ODISHA. “Teachers cannot defeat students – whether for academic performance, discipline or other reason,” he pointed out.
When the defendant was interrogated, he claimed that she was provoked because some students ridiculed her, although she refused to present a written statement explaining her behavior, said Kar.
Soon after the incident, a meeting of the school management committee after the insistence of parents were convened to seek responsibility from the teacher. Parents even threatened to continue their studies at school.
Recently, teachers of Salaguda Sevashram in the Odisha district in Kandhamal Odisha got under the scanner for alleged negligence after eight students were hospitalized in serious condition. The Peers hostels poured a strong glue into their eyes and let the students open their eyes next morning.
In the Sundargarh district, a class III student was saved four hours after he was connected to a tin box. “Class III student identified another student who made unthinkable,” said Gangadhar Seth, director of the government node school, Jarda.
Only last month, an eight -year -old tribal girl in the Keonjhar district spent all night trapped in the class window. She tried a desperate attempt to escape after the school authorities unintentionally locked her inside the premises.
