The Karnataka Cabinet on Thursday approved the Karnataka Startup Policy 2025-30, which seeks to develop the state as a global innovation hub and help establish another 25,000 start-ups.
Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil said in a press briefing after the Cabinet meeting that the policy seeks to allocate a budget of ₹ 518.27 crore over the next five years to offer financial support to start-ups.
The policy aims to ensure that at least 10,000 of the target 25,000 start-ups are established outside Bengaluru, he noted.
The policy will seek to create a suitable ecosystem and will work to build the necessary infrastructure and ensure the availability of required skilled manpower, he said.

The cabinet also approved a proposal to adjust the composition of the INDIRA (Integrated Nutrition and Diet Initiative for Revitalization of Anna Bhagya Beneficiaries) food package under the Anna Bhagya scheme to provide additional quantity of toor dal commensurate with the price of green gram proposed earlier, the minister said.
The cabinet gave its nod to a proposal to shift 67 vacancies of Urdu primary school teachers, which were reserved for OBCs, to general merit category as a one-time measure as no eligible OBC candidates applied for the posts, the minister said.
Cabinet gave administrative approval for comprehensive operation and maintenance of various sewage treatment plants in Bengaluru at a cost of ₹ 49.91 crore.
The cabinet also gave administrative approval for procurement of equipment worth ₹94.5 crore for setting up a peripheral cancer center at the PKTB Hospital campus under Mysuru Medical College and Research Institute, the minister said. .
The Cabinet also gave administrative approval to set up Haj Bhavan on 1.56 acres of land at a cost of ₹ 20 crore in Bajpe of Mangaluru.
The cabinet further approved the proposal to upgrade Koratagere town panchayat in Tumakuru district to municipal council and Doranahalli village panchayat in Yadgir district to town panchayat.
