General Education Minister V. Sivankutty here on Friday inaugurated the new Block for Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary Examinations at Pareeksha Bhavan, Poojappura, and the Pareeksha Bhavan Software Overhaul Project.
Efficiency in the conduct of examinations will increase with the distributed examination system to be convened at Pareeksha Bhavan, the minister said on the occasion.
Students will also be able to get various services, including certificates, from a single centre.
The Minister said that the amalgamation of SSLC, Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary examination wings under one umbrella under the Public Education Rejuvenation Mission was an important decision of the government. As a result, the Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary examination wings were shifted from the Housing Board buildings in Santhi Nagar to Pareeksha Bhavan in Poojappura.
The higher secondary examination wing alone had 1,984 examination centers in Kerala, Lakshadweep, Mahe and the Gulf region and nearly 12 thousand students under it. It conducted approximately seven public examinations per year.
The minister said the government has sanctioned ₹1.63 crore for upgrading 20-odd software used in Pareeksha Bhavan. This was necessary to avoid delays in the declaration of results and distribution of certificates. The Imaging Technology Development Center would redesign the software, the minister said.
NSK Director General Education Umesh, Pareeksha Bhavan Secretary Santhosh Kumar S., Additional Director Santhosh CA, Joint Commissioner Gireesh Cholayil and Director Joint Examinations K. Manikya Raj were present.
