The Supreme Court has sought responses from the Center and the Life Insurance Corporation of India on a plea to direct the LIC to frame and implement guidelines for disability-sensitive social insurance schemes.
Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta agreed to hear a plea that sought to direct the Center to exercise policy oversight to ensure that social security schemes for persons with disabilities are implemented in accordance with the guarantees under Articles 14 and 21 of the Constitution.
