The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will soon launch passport-style service centers across its borders to enable citizens to get e-Khata certificates quickly and hassle-free.
Addressing a press conference at the GBA headquarters, Tushar Giri Nath, Additional Secretary General, Urban Development Department, said the new system will replace the earlier circular process and ensure transparency and faster services.
During the conference, GBA Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao said that 22,539 potholes have been repaired so far, while work continues on main and sub-arterial roads. “While incessant rains have slowed progress, long-term plans are being developed to control potholes next year. The city has 1,682 km of major roads, many of which have not received funding for more than eight years,” Mr. Rao said, adding that the ongoing upgrades will significantly reduce traffic congestion.
GBA is rolling out a comprehensive ₹4,800 crore road development programme. 157 km is being white coated at a cost of ₹ 273 crore, 79 km of high density corridor roads are being developed at a cost of ₹ 694 crore and 392 km of roads are being blocked at a cost of ₹ 694 crore. “All the ongoing white and black lining works are expected to be completed by March 2026 and other tender stage projects are scheduled for completion by June 2026. However, MG Road will not be white coated due to heavy traffic and city traffic police restrictions. Instead, only black lining will be done to minimize disruption in the Central Business District area,” said Mr.
Officials further added that after two years of settling the court case, tenders were floated for 33 containers for collection and disposal of solid waste in the city.
