The police are registering a case against actor Tiny Tom

The Kadavanthra police on Wednesday (July 1, 2026) registered a case against actor Tiny Tom for allegedly making defamatory and communal remarks against co-star Ansiba Hassan. Mr. Tom was booked a day after the Ernakulam District and Sessions Court ordered the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) based on Ms. Hassan’s complaint.

Ms Hassan approached the court after the police recently refused to register a case on Tuesday (June 20, 2026) on her request after a preliminary investigation.

Mr. Tom was charged with insulting the modesty of a woman, criminal conspiracy, spreading false information and other non-bailable offenses.

In her petition, Ms. Hassan challenged the police’s decision not to file an FIR on her complaint, despite being constantly subjected to alleged harassment, lewd remarks, gender-based slurs and comments from the community, including imputations related to her parentage, family life and religious identity.

Earlier, Ms. Hassan had cited alleged harassment and other misdeeds by Mr. Tom as the reason for her resignation as joint secretary of the Association of Malayalam Film Artistes. Mr. Tom has repeatedly denied the allegations.
