The next Wimbledon queen? Gauff, Muchová, Kosťuk, Nosková dream of a big semi-final
A new name will be engraved on the Venus Rosewater Dish as Wimbledon 2026 heads into a fascinating women’s singles semi-final line-up with four players still seeking their first title at the All England Club. World No. 2 Coco Gauff, 2023 French Open finalist Karolína Muchová, Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk and Czech youngster Linda Nosková went through a draw that saw several top contenders crash out early, setting up two interesting last-four clashes on Center Court.
The first semifinal pits seventh-seeded Gauff against 10th-seeded Mucha in what has quickly become one of the most compelling rivalries on tour. Gauff enjoyed a stellar campaign in 2026, reaching her first Wimbledon semi-final after recovering from a set down to defeat Jessica Pegula in the quarter-finals. The American has now reached the semi-finals at every Grand Slam, underscoring her growing consistency on all surfaces.
Meanwhile, Muchová reminded everyone why she is considered one of the game’s most complete players when she is fully fit. The Czech put on an impressive performance to shut out Naomi Osaka, mixing her signature moves, drop shots and net play with aggressive baseline hitting. Her versatility has worried many of the tour’s biggest players, but she faces a daunting challenge against Gauff, who has a convincing 6-1 advantage and has beaten Mucha twice already this season.

Grass has often been considered Gauff’s least productive Grand Slam surface, making this run particularly significant. Her movement, improved serve and greater willingness to attack shorter balls have helped her overcome the unique challenges of Wimbledon.
Muchová will be hoping that her experience on the biggest stages can tilt the competition in her favour. The Czech reached the final of the French Open three years ago and repeatedly demonstrated her ability to disrupt the rhythm with full-court tennis. If she can keep the points going and keep Gauff from settling into extended rallies, she could cause another upset.
The second semi-final guarantees the first Grand Slam finalist as 12th seed Marta Kostyuk and ninth seed Linda Nosková. Both players have enjoyed breakthrough fortnights and are now one win away from the biggest match of their careers.
Kostyuk then comes in full of confidence dismantling 2024 No. 2 Jasmine Paolini 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals. The Ukrainian hit 19 winning points and did not encounter a single break. She displayed the aggressive tennis from the first stroke that has become her trademark during the tournament.
She also spoke candidly about the emotional challenge of competing while events in her homeland are still unfolding, adding extra meaning to her remarkable Wimbledon run.

He stands in Kostyuk’s way and is one of the tour’s fastest rising stars. Nosková continued her excellent season on grass by defeating Elise Mertens 6-3, 7-5 to reach her first Grand Slam semi-final. The 21-year-old Czech has now won 10 of her last 11 matches on grass, her exuberant serve and fearless groundstrokes making her one of the most dangerous players left in the draw.
Their styles promise a fascinating competition. Kostuková thrives on athletic defense before quickly turning points into attack, while Nosková prefers to dictate play from the first strike. The fine margin of serve and return can ultimately decide who advances.
Regardless of Thursday’s results, Wimbledon is guaranteed another women’s champion for the tenth consecutive year. Gauff looks a slight favorite with her Grand Slam pedigree and dominant record over Mucha, but the Czech has enough tactics to trouble any opponent.
In the other semi-final, the momentum suggests a close match between two players who are enjoying the best grass campaigns of their careers.
With four rivals separated by little in terms of form but united by the dream of lifting their first Wimbledon crown, Center Court is set for an impressive day of high-quality tennis as the race for the 2026 title reaches its decisive stage.
