A 50-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by a neighbor in Manjapra near Angamala on Monday (March 16, 2026) evening in a suspected revenge killing. The accused surrendered at the Ayyampuzha police station and was arrested.
The victim has been identified as Jose Chakku, aka Kilukkan Jose, of Manjapra Vadakkumbhagom. The accused Pauly Jose (57) is said to be a former soldier.
The incident took place around 6:00 pm at Kothayithod, a stream on the boundary of Kalady and Ayyampuzha police station boundaries. According to the first information report, the accused allegedly opened fire at Jose Chakku when he went there to take a bath. Police said Jose Chakku was the prime accused in the murder of the accused’s father, which occurred seven years ago during a property dispute.
