The Kerala UDF Coordination Committee will meet on July 30
The coordination committee of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) will meet here on July 30, UDF convener Adoor Prakash said on Saturday (July 25, 2026).
Chief Minister VD Satheesan will chair the meeting scheduled at Cliff House, which will mainly discuss appointments to top posts in corporations and boards under ministries, Mr. Prakash said at a press conference here.
He said decisions regarding appointments would be finalized after consultation with ministers and consensus among UDF partners. Currently, important positions are still held by persons appointed by the previous government. The UDF does not intend to continue with them, Mr. Prakash said.
On whether the UDF meeting would discuss issues such as the tax revision on soft drinks, the proposed sale of Adani Group’s stake in Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt Ltd and the appointment of government representatives, Mr Prakash said the Chief Minister would highlight the issues to be discussed. Amid growing protests against the revised budget proposal to reduce the tax on soft drinks, Mr Satheesan indicated that the UDF would take the final decision on the matter.
In early June, while briefing reporters on the cabinet’s decisions, Mr. Satheesan said that the chairmen and vice-chairmen appointed during the previous tenure of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in the boards and corporations would be replaced. New appointments will be made as per norms, he said.
The July 30 meeting will also be the first after the UDF government took over in May. Mr. Prakash attributed the alleged delay to the budget session of the State Legislature and the monsoon session of Parliament.
On the appointment of a full-time president for the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), Mr. Prakash said the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has to take the decision. A decision can be expected soon, he added.
