The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association suspends the president following an 8-0 vote by the Apex Council

NEW DELHI: Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) president Javid Ahmed Kitab has been suspended with immediate effect after the association’s Apex Council passed a unanimous resolution in favor of the move.The decision was finalized on June 25 and approved by an 8-0 majority vote. According to the notice, the resolution was circulated among the authorized members of the Apex Council under Article 23(i) of the JKCA Constitution. As the matter concerned the conduct and suspension of the President, the resolution was not sent to Kitab. Instead, it was circulated among the remaining nine members of the Apex Council. Eight members voted for the resolution, one member did not share the decision.The notice read: “Accordingly, the resolution is duly passed by a majority of 8:0 in terms of Article 23(i) read with Article 48(6) of the JKCA Constitution.”He further said, “In pursuance of the said resolution, Javid Ahmed Kitab, president of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, has been suspended with immediate effect.”The notification also said that the resolution would have the same force and effect as a resolution passed in a duly convened meeting of the Apex Council. It will be submitted to the council at its next meeting for ratification as required by the constitution.The JKCA also directed all officers, employees, affiliated units and other functionaries of the association to “immediately take all subsequent steps to implement the resolution in accordance with the bye-laws” of the association.
