The internet is going crazy over fake casting announcements for Jennifer Lawrence, Sebastian Stan and Jonathan Bailey | Today’s news
Social media users were briefly convinced this week that several high-profile stars were joining the romantic comedy One Month Mark after several fake posts made the rounds online and sent fans into a frenzy.
Hollywood hoaxes involving Jennifer Lawrence, Sebastian Stan, Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley go viral on X
The first rumor comes from an account known as “Flop Updates,” which shared a post designed to resemble an entertainment industry report. The post falsely claimed that Sebastian Stan had signed up to star opposite Lawrence in One Month Mark, Apple Studios’ upcoming romantic comedy about a woman who has never managed to last more than a month in a relationship.
The project, which Lawrence is also reportedly producing alongside Chernin Entertainment, was recently announced but remains in early development. While the actress is attached to star, no director, cast or production timeline has been officially confirmed.
That did little to stop the rumor from spreading quickly among Stan’s fans, many of whom had long expressed interest in seeing the actor take on a traditional romantic comedy role after years of dramatic and action-packed performances.
One fan admitted: “I almost fell for it, I was so happy (sic)”.
Another reacted with frustration after discovering the claim was false, writing: “FLOP UPDATES NOT PLAYING SEBNATION SO IT’S SO BAD (sic)”.
Others embraced the pairing, with one user writing: “Sebastian Stan is finally doing a romcom! 🥰 (sic)”, while another wrote: “OMG MY TWO FAVORITES after yesterday’s terrible news, this is like a consolation prize (sic)”.
Excitement continued across social media, with comments including: “Sebastian Stan and Jennifer Lawrence Richard Linklater romcom (sic)”, “MY FAAAAAAAAAVVVVSSSSSSS TAKE ALL MY MONEY” and “sebastian Stan is finally doing a romcom, life is worth living again (sic)”.
The frenzy intensified when another user shared a similarly styled fake announcement involving Bridgerton stars Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley.
The fictional post claimed: “Jonathan Bailey joins Simone Ashley in Richard Linklater’s romantic comedy ‘THE ONE MOON MARK’ at Apple Studios. It’s expected to shoot this fall with a summer 2027 release.”
Despite the post having no basis in confirmed news, it quickly gained attention, fueled by continued fan enthusiasm for Bailey and Ashley, whose on-screen chemistry in Bridgerton remains popular with viewers.
One fan wrote: “Don’t even joke about that I almost had an accident 😭😭😭 (sic)”.
Another commented: “People are dying to see Jonny and Simone in another project together – @ Hollywood give the people what they want!! (sic)”
Others lamented the missed opportunity, with one user commenting: “more likes than actual casting news 😭 the fact that NOBODY uses their shared power is a biblical sin (sic)”.
“The world is dying to see Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley’s master class chemistry again (sic),” wrote another fan, while a fifth added: “People are dying for Jonny and Simone in another project together (sic)”.
Although neither rumor turned out to be true, the reaction highlighted a broader trend in audience demand for big romantic comedies with established stars.
The enthusiastic response to both fake announcements underscored the enduring popularity of Lawrence, Stan, Bailey and Ashley, as well as viewers’ desire for high-profile romantic pairings that combine proven chemistry with mainstream appeal.
For now, however, One Month Mark remains largely under wraps, with Apple Studios yet to announce the film’s director, supporting cast, or production schedule.
