The hospitality sector is looking for land for budget hotels to boost tourism

The Andhra Pradesh Hotels Association (APHA) on Sunday urged the state government to provide land at subsidized rates for setting up affordable hotels in major cities including Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Bhogapuram, saying the move will boost tourism while creating employment and economic activity in the region.

Speaking to the media in Vizianagaram on the occasion of World Tourism Day on Sunday, the association’s state president G. Srinivasa Rao said the hotel industry can easily create thousands of jobs when the government is keen to enhance the status of the industry and provide land at reasonable rates for construction of new hotels.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that APHA representatives would interact with Tourism and Culture Minister Kandula Durgesh in Eluru on October 1, 2026 to give a presentation on the opportunities for growth of the hospitality sector in the state. “Many star hotels are coming up in and around Bhogapuram International Airport. But many air passengers cannot stay in these star hotels. If the government provides one acre of land at an affordable price, at least ten budget hotels will be built near the airport,” said Mr. Srinivas.
