The government plans to standardize organ donation, to fill procedural gaps in the law | Today’s news

The Ministry of Health’s National Organization for Organ and Tissue Transplantation (Notto) is developing guidelines for donation after circulatory death (DCD), a system used in Europe and North America that expands the pool of donors beyond the current brainstem death criteria. It also plans standardized procedures for brain stem donation and organ exchange programs, filling gaps in procedures that have left hospitals without clear operating standards.
