Andhra Pradesh Women Commission Chairperson Dr. Rayapati Sailaja conducted the first ‘Mahila Jansunwai’ in Nellore on Monday (March 9, 2026). She received complaints from 30 women, some of which the officials resolved on the spot.
Speaking on the occasion, she said, “As directed by the National Commission for Women, ‘Mahila Jansunwai’ programs will be organized across the state during March 8 to 13 on the occasion of International Women’s Day.”
Many women would find it difficult to come to the Commission office in Mangalagiri with their problems, so I have come here for such women. Women’s issues in Nellore district have been directly identified by officials and such programs are being organized in all districts of the state, she said.
Ms Sailaja said: “Every complaint brought to the attention of the commission will be thoroughly investigated and a solution will be found. Most of the complaints received were related to domestic violence, forced labor and harassment of the elderly.”
She ordered the police officers and officials of the relevant departments to take immediate steps to resolve the issues. She advised the police officers to investigate every complaint expeditiously and provide justice to the aggrieved women.
The Chairperson clarified that the State Commission for Women is determined to ensure that no woman suffers. She warned that strict action would be taken against those who harass women.
