Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Monday (Dec 8) that attempts to hinder the state’s development using the Enforcement Directorate (ED) notification will fail, asserting that neither the government nor the Left Democratic Front (LDF) will be intimidated.
Inaugurating an LDF election rally at Stadium Corner in Kannur, he said that those who filed notices may get temporary satisfaction but it will not affect the state’s development agenda. He alleged that evil minds who want to see the state destroyed are behind the notification against the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).

Mr. Vijayan claimed that KIIFB was never involved in any land transaction in the state, adding that the land acquisition was done solely for infrastructure development. He said KIIFB had provided ₹20,000 crore for land acquisition for seven major projects in Kerala, stressing that the land was not bought for commercial purposes. This included the purchase of land for a state highway. The land acquired can only be used for the purpose for which it was acquired, he said, adding that KIIFB has not deviated from the standards set by the Reserve Bank of India. Those targeting the agency believed they would “crush” it by issuing the notice, he said.
Highlighting the government’s performance, the Chief Minister said that Kerala has an administration that has fulfilled its election commitments. Of the 600 promises made in the 2016 LDF manifesto, 580 have been fulfilled, he noted. He said it was possible because the people allowed the LDF to continue in power.
At the Vizhinjam port, the chief minister said the state had spent ₹5,600 crore to complete the project.
At the Centre, he attacked the National Democratic Alliance government for refusing the requested financial assistance and also preventing those who applied to help the state.
Mr. Vijayan said the Kannur Corporation, ruled by the United Democratic Front (UDF), had failed to implement many proposed works.
