According to sources, the kingpin in the recruitment exam scam of sub-inspector RD Patil has been shifted to Mysuru Central Jail from Kalaburagi Central Jail.
The decision to transfer him was taken as he had repeatedly violated prison discipline and disrupted prison administration, prison department sources said.
Last month, videos showing gambling and alcohol consumption at Kalaburagi Central Jail went viral on social media and RD Patil is suspected to be behind them.
He is also accused of bribery charges against a senior prison warden and of leaking prison videos through a pencil, the sources added.
Following the controversy, Director General of Police (Prison and Correctional Services) Alok Kumar visited Kalaburagi Central Jail earlier this month, inspected it and ordered an inquiry.
In view of the continuing breakdown in prison discipline and administration by RD Patil, the prison department has decided to shift him to Mysuru Central Jail, sources said.
