The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the transfer of 2.7 acres of land at coastal Poovar to the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), a Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) facility.
The land earmarked for research purposes is being transferred to DRDO, the parent organization of NPOL, in exchange for ₹2.50 crore, which is the fair price of the land, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s office said.
“The land was allotted on the request of NPOL Director on May 15, 2024 stating that NPOL and Naval Science and Technology Laboratory (NSTL), Visakhapatanam would like to have their own land in south Kerala for research purposes,” sources said.
The Cabinet decided that financial assistance can be provided to 1031 individuals who were included in the original list but were excluded from the final list meant to identify endosulfan affected in Kasaragod district. They have been included in the default list prepared based on first level medical examination and field level verification in 2017.
The Cabinet has decided to approve flats for 50 landless and homeless families in Alappuzha district under the Extreme Poverty Eradication Programme. They will be allotted flats constructed under the Punargeham Scheme at Purakkad.
The cabinet also decided that an infrastructure development proposal pegged at ₹26.58 crore for the KR Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Art may be considered for funding through the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).
