
Chhath Puja celebrations are just a few days away and the Delhi government is gearing up for a grand celebration along the Yamuna ghats this year. Chhath Puja celebrations will begin on October 25, Saturday. This important cultural and religious festival, which lasts for four days, involves strict rituals, fasting and gathering together at water bodies to offer prayers.
On Wednesday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta attended the review meeting. In a post on X, she said, “Participated in a review meeting for Chhath Mahaparv under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Lt Governor Shri Vinay Kumar Saxena Ji.

Ahead of the celebrations, she announced that the party’s public representatives, MPs, MLAs and councilors would participate in a special cleanliness drive at all the Ghats in their localities where the Chhath Puja would be held. To inspect the preparations at Sonia Vihar, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari and Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra visited Chhath Ghat on October 22.
According to Rekha Gupta, special emphasis is being laid on cleanliness and infrastructure, apart from ensuring a smooth celebration for all devotees across the capital.

On October 21, Art, Culture and Language Minister Kapil Mishra announced a single-window clearance system for obtaining permission to host Chhath Puja. According to the Minister for Arts, Culture and Language, over 1,000 venues have been identified in the city for the upcoming festival, one of the biggest arrangements to date.
More than 1,000 places have been identified in the city for celebrations and special preparations are underway at Jamuna River Ghats, Dwarka, Hathi Ghat, Pitampura and Sonia Vihar, PTI reported.

Discussing the government’s efforts, she added, “Model Chhath ghats are being built. Last time the programs were held at only 929 places, but this time more than 1,000 applications have already been received…. One Chhath ghat will be built in each district,” ANI reported.
Preparations and yamun ghat in Delhi’s itto
In a post on X, Delhi BJP spokesperson Mohit Mishra said, “This is not the Banaras ghat. This is the Yamuna ghat at ITO in Delhi. You certainly have not seen such preparations for Chhath Puja in Delhi till today.”

Meaning of Chhath Puja
Devotees worship Lord Surya and seek blessings for a prosperous and progressive life. Known by various names such as Surya Shashti, Chhath, Chhathi, Chhath Parv, Dala Puja and Dala Chhath, it is celebrated six days after Diwali. The sacred rituals include the sacred bath, fasting, abstinence from drinking water as vrata, standing in water, offering prasad, arghya to the rising and setting sun, and prostrating to the banks of rivers.
