The BJP is forming an ‘unexpected events’ committee in its Tamil Nadu unit

The Tamil Nadu BJP unit on Tuesday (September 22, 2026) formed a three-member committee at the state level in the wake of political developments and “unexpected developments” in the state BJP unit. The committee will submit its report to the state and central units.

“In the light of recent political developments and unexpected events in BJP Tamil Nadu, a three-member committee consisting of the following members is hereby constituted with immediate effect to inquire and report,” BJP state unit president Nainar Nagenthran announced.

Former legislator and member of the party’s national executive H. Raja will be the convenor of the committee. State Treasurer M. Sivasubramaniyan and National Councilor R. Umarathi were appointed as members of the committee.

Complaints lodged against some of its functionaries are believed to have prompted the state unit of the BJP to form the committee.
