Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday directed officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan to increase government revenue by effectively utilizing available resources of the state with a special focus on attracting investment and increasing the value of government assets.
He emphasized the need to effectively implement the HILT policy and develop tourism as a major revenue generating sector. The instructions were issued during a high-level review meeting on resource mobilization held at the Telangana Secretariat. Civil Supplies and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju and senior officials from various departments attended the meeting.
Addressing the officials, Mr. Bhatti emphasized the importance of strengthening Telangana’s economy through optimal utilization of government land, creating an investor-friendly ecosystem and encouraging private sector participation in tourism development. He called for the identification of new revenue streams and instructed the department to accelerate initiatives that can attract investment and generate more revenue for the state. He also urged all ministries to work together to maximize financial benefits from government assets and land.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed officials to fast-track approvals under the HILT policy, especially for no-objection park proposals. He asked the ministries to ensure that the revenue due to the government is mobilized without delay. Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju proposed to organize ministerial-led roadshows across the six designated parks to create awareness among industries about the options available under the HILT policy.
Tourism has been identified as a major target area for future revenue growth. Officials informed the meeting that the investment opportunities presented earlier had attracted proposals worth nearly ₹30,000 crore. In response, Mr. Bhatti directed officials to prepare 70 to 80 Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) highlighting tourism investment opportunities across Telangana. These proposals will be presented to domestic and international investors during the upcoming global summit.
Special attention was also paid to the development of tourism in the area of cultural heritage and wildlife. Officials informed the meeting that bids have been invited for the construction of 11 forts under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. The Deputy CM directed the immediate implementation of Tiger Tourism initiatives while Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy proposed to explore the tourism potential of Nizam Guest House at Nizamsagar.
The Deputy Chief Minister further directed the officials to speed up the establishment of motor camps in the three designated districts and conduct field inspections of major tourism projects.
