So far, no case has been filed against the mass voter erasure claimant in Musheerabad
Two days after there was a deliberate attempt to wipe out existing voters en masse in Musheerabad constituency, the Hyderabad election authorities are yet to take any action against the person who attempted it.
Under the Representation of the People Act, 1955, no criminal cases were filed against the Booth Level Agent, who allegedly filed more than 30 Form 7 applications to wipe out a Congress Party worker and his family members under false representation.
Even as fresh examples of pre-printed Form 7s emerged from Bahadurpura and later Goshamahal constituencies, District Electoral Officer RV Karnan said a decision would be taken after studying the report submitted by the concerned election registration officer. He said each BLA can file a total of 30 deletion requests and cannot file more than 10 in any case.
However, providing false information that said voters are not staying at the address leads to criminal penalties and the complainant signed a statement to that effect.
In the latest case reported by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee’s election cell on Saturday, a batch of Form 7 was allegedly submitted to the BLA by the Bharatiya Janata Party, but the BLO of the polling station concerned informed him that there were strict instructions not to accept Form 7 in bulk.
Video clips of 15 such forms with voters’ names and addresses printed on them, but without the applicant’s name, have gone viral on social media. The BLO, when approached by Hind, confirmed that the forms had been brought to him but refused to accept them.
