The Telangana government has started the exercise for the successful conduct of the second edition of the Global Investment Summit in December this year.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday (July 6) asked officials to form ward committees to ensure effective coordination among various departments for the smooth running of the event. The chief minister gave directions during the meeting to assess the progress of initiatives in the state’s tourism sector.
The first edition of the Telangana Rising Global Investment Summit, held at Bharat Future City on December 8 and 9 last year, attracted assurances of ₹ 5.75 lakh crore for investment. The state government signed more than 50 MoUs with interested global companies during the event.
The chief minister wanted the officials of tourism and other departments to prepare the environment to boost investor confidence so that more investments can be attracted through the global event. He wanted Taramati Baradari to be further developed and Durgam Cheruvu to be converted into a full-fledged tourist attraction. The neighboring district of Vikarabad should be developed under the tourist center development scheme. Veerabhadra swamy temple should be built at Vikarabad and temple management board should be formed on Yadadri line.
Steps should be taken to develop eco-tourism in the forest lands adjacent to the CURE area in collaboration with the tourism department. Ecoparks should be developed on the lines of the recently inaugurated Gurramguda Ecopark. Special emphasis should be placed on forest land in the future city, where development should meet international standards.
Attention should be focused on the development of urban forests and a special officer should be appointed to speed up the work connected with the creation of urban parks. The Department of Tourism and GHMC have been directed to develop the historical bridges of Puranapul as tourist spots and arrangements should be made for visitors on these bridges. Traffic could be diverted if needed to allow visitors to commute to these bridges free of charge.
