Given that Hyderabad buildings are still rising to the sky, it is also the need for robust measures for fire safety. Officials revealed that there are plans to obtain a 100 -meter fire platform that would significantly increase the ability of the state to solve fires in even higher structures. Globally the highest firefighting platforms reach up to 110 meters, with 90 meters-units to achieve 27 floors-only most commonly used.
“After 30 floors, the external fire fighting is not feasible anywhere in the world. Therefore, internal fire systems must function flawlessly,” said the CEO of the Fire Service of Telangana Y. Nagi Reddy. All height buildings are obliged to have smoke and heat detectors, sprayers, designated fire exits and on the site of the fire safety team. It is expected that each building association will employ a fire official who is trained to start the reaction efforts while the fire -fighting crew arrives.
National Building Code
The height buildings in the city are governed by the National Building Code (NBC), which sets standards of fire protection to protect life and property. Officials of the TELANGANA Fire Brigade claim that while altitude buildings are generally well equipped internally, external firefighting skills increase significantly.
The department currently has two hydraulic platforms capable of reaching 54 meters, located on Madhapur and the Fire Brigade of the Secretariat. These are suitable for fighting fires in buildings up to 18 floors. Another unit, which can reach 30 meters, operates from the fire station Secunderabad.
Department of Fire Services, in coordination with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other participating parties, is considering bringing commercial buildings with a high rise under the cloisters of fire regulations. Only commercial buildings higher than 15 meters and residential buildings over 18 meters require a fire night for the building permit.
Audit of a third party fire audit
Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Fire Services, Civil Defense and Domestic Guard has established nine subcommitations to deal with critical aspects of fire safety, including parking problems, the danger of electric vehicles and third -party fire audits. One of these panels led by Mr. Y. Nagi Reddy recommended a national model for fire audits of third parties and empanelment of fire safety advisors.
These auditors – now open to graduates engineering – will be entitled to carry out strict checks and send reports of the department to reduce the burden of physical verification.
Another committee led by Mr. Reddy also proposed to digitize firefighting services throughout India, with allusions from the system of the daily situation in Telangana (DSR). This system could become a national model for reporting and coordinating fire incidents in real time.
The National Building Code is expected to be revised this year to integrate updated fire safety instructions for parking spaces and risks related to electric vehicle. The recent presentation of the head of the fire brigade in Mumbai emphasized the need for automatic fire suppression in the parking zones, especially where electric vehicles are parked.
Since more people live and work at altitude than ever, fire safety is no longer just an item of the control list-it is central to urban planning and management of public affairs, the officer said.
