Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed ministers and senior Congress leaders, including MLAs, MPs and constituency in-charges, to be cautious about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls – starting Thursday (June 25, 2026), warning that it is a serious matter.
When he attended a zoom meeting with party leaders on Wednesday (June 24, 2026), he found fault with some of the leaders for their careless approach to the exercise. However, the leadership will not be silent on those who cause harm to the party.
He said the party would monitor the performance of the concerned leaders for 10 days after the initiation of the SIR. “We will replace those who fail to meet expectations,” he said.
Mr. Reddy said that he has district wise reports of awareness camps conducted on SIR and is in favor of holding more such meetings. Ministers in Charge should be more responsible towards the exercise as any carelessness could lead to loss of poor people.
Losing the right to vote could deny the poor their Aadhaar cards and eligibility for ration cards. Party leaders should ensure that there is no room for such developments.
