Haryana Police on Monday said 857 links related to rapper-musician Badshah’s controversial song ‘Tateeree’ have so far been removed in coordination with various social media platforms after due legal process.
On March 6, an FIR was registered in Panchkula alleging that Badshah used objectionable lyrics and visuals in his recent music video ‘Tateeree’.
The Haryana Police said it has stepped up its crackdown on the “undesirable song” and taken strong action across digital platforms.
So far, 857 links related to the song, including 154 YouTube videos and 703 Instagram roles, have been removed in coordination with various social media platforms, police said in a statement.
“Notices have been issued to the concerned platforms to remove all versions of the song, including re-recordings, short videos and other formats. A step has been taken to curb the spread of objectionable content containing derogatory references to women and minors,” the company said.
DGP Ajay Singhal said that any form of objectionable content undermining the dignity of women and minors will not be tolerated and strict legal action will continue in cases like ‘Tateeree’.
He added that monitoring of digital platforms has been strengthened to ensure compliance with the law and send a strong message to the company.
The DGP also emphasized that the Haryana government is fully committed to creating a safe and responsible digital environment and the police and administration are jointly taking effective measures in this regard.
ADGP and Panchkula Commissioner Sibash Kabiraj said that anyone found creating or sharing reels, shorts or any other form of video using the banned song will face strict legal action.
On March 19, the police informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court that Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, popularly known as Badshah, had joined the investigation of an FIR lodged against him in Panchkula.
The rapper-musician also uploaded a video on his official Instagram in which he apologized if his latest song hurt anyone’s feelings.
He also challenged the March 13 order of the state commission directing the Panipat SP to register an FIR and arrest him in connection with the March 6 summons.
The state council, on the instructions of the Panipat SP, submitted before the high court that the police would not take any action on the impugned order issued by the Haryana State Commission for Women.
The appellant’s legal representative then decided not to pursue the matter further.
The Panchkula police registered an FIR on March 6 following a complaint filed by a resident who alleged that objectionable lyrics and images were used in Badshah’s recently released music video.
