A sub-inspector of Elamakkara police station was suspended on Sunday (May 10, 2026) after being booked in two separate cases involving allegations of sexual harassment, intimidation and attempted extortion by misusing a narcotics investigation.
Accused Mujeeb H. was absconding after cases were registered against him. The alleged incidents took place in 2025.
The officer allegedly obtained the woman’s phone number from the phone book of the accused in the narcotics case. He allegedly used the number for sexual advances and threatened to implicate her in a narcotics case when she refused his demands.
The officer also allegedly extorted ₹1.5 million from a doctor through extortion after getting his number from the phone book of an accused in a drug case.
The officer was charged in the first case with outraging the modesty of a woman and in the second case with blackmail and intimidation.
