Students are encouraged to file a complaint if technical schools demand a higher fee
The Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (TAFRC) said that parents and students must file complaints with it along with valid documentary evidence if technical colleges demand additional fees.
Several private technical colleges under various heads such as career development and campus recruitment training and others were found to be charging fees beyond the government-fixed fee.
“All collections, whether directly or indirectly, are unauthorized, illegal and impermissible. Institutions are not authorized to collect any amount other than the prescribed fee. Any such collection will be treated as capitation fee and appropriate action will be initiated,” it said.
It further warned the technical colleges to strictly adhere to the fee structure. Non-compliance will attract penal action, including a fine of ₹ 2 lakh on each student.
