On Thursday, a tense situation prevailed as members of the fraction supporting and against an uniform mass in the Archdiocese of Ernakulam-English in the Syro Malabar church, and on Thursday they organized protests outside the bishop’s house.
Members who support uniform Mass reportedly tried to block the priests in participating in the Presbyteral Council meeting and increased the slogans who sought to deny the entry of priests who faced the “disciplinary conduct”. The police set up barricades and removed agitators, many of whom were accused of riots.
Members of one church, one QURBANA movement that supports the unified mass, demanded the resignation of the Church leaders who oppose it. They also claimed that Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany, the vicar of the chief archbishop Mar Raphaela Thattil, performed on the line of those who opposed the united Mass.
Meanwhile, the Archdiocesan Movement for Transparency (AMT), which is against the united mass liturgy of the Synod, convened a meeting of representatives of various parishes looking for an implementation in which priests faced people and eliminate the curia.
The day also recorded the convening of the presbyteral council of the Archdiocese to discuss the series of adherence to the unified mass.
