
“Daughters stay at home” video goes viral on social media. Mumbai women pay ₹1.2 lakh for a 3 bedroom apartment in Andheri West that has sea view, metro view, living room and kitchen. The woman sparked an online debate about her source of income and how she finances her rent payments.
Vlogger Arya Kothari shared the reel on Instagram with the caption ‘Rent in Mumbai – EP 4’. This video shared 3 days ago has gone viral. It has accumulated more than 1.1 million views and several comments. In the 30-second clip, the vlogger can be seen approaching a girl drinking coconut water.
Arya Kothari posts the first question: “How much do you pay for rent in Mumbai?” In response, the woman says: ₹1.2 million.” The vlogger then asks her for a tour of the house. “This is a view of a large subway. And then it’s my favorite European-style painting,” says the woman as she gives Arye Kothari a tour of the house.
He questions the woman’s finances, asking, “How can you afford it? What do you do for a living?” The woman replies, “I will stay at home, daughter. I don’t do any work. I struggle a lot. I begged my uncle a lot (for this apartment).” Above, the woman says her favorite part of this apartment is the sea view.
According to Bombay Woman, one should earn around ₹2.5 million to enjoy the same lifestyle.
She further shared the reason for staying at home, the daughter: “I do a lot of things for my family and that’s how I get paid. I think I was my own mother’s mother all my childhood. My mom has schizophrenia. She hates the cold and that’s why we go to Mumbai in winter because it’s quite hot here.”
