A user from Bengaluru has emerged as India’s most generous tipster on Instamart, giving suppliers a staggering ₹68,600 tips in 2025, according to How India Instamarted 2025 annual report released on Monday.
This number is the highest recorded by a single user in the country this year and stands out in India’s fast-growing e-commerce ecosystem. While Bengaluru topped the rankings individually, Chennai followed closely behind, with users in the city tipping together ₹59,505 per year.
Bengaluru’s unique behavior in fast trading
The Instamart report highlights that Bengaluru’s dominance goes far beyond tipping. The city continues to be among India’s strongest markets for high value and premium orders. From pairing a ₹1.7 lakh iPhone sa ₹178 soda limes in a single cart to place very low value orders such as ₹10 prints, Bengaluru’s ordering habits reflect a unique combination of indulgence, urgency and everyday convenience.
The city has also emerged as one of the main consumers of Korean sauces, late-night snacks and newly introduced product categories, strengthening its reputation as a fast-moving, experimental market.
Tipping gains ground in fast-paced business
While tipping is common in food delivery and ride-hailing apps, it is still an evolving behavior in the realm of quick commerce. However, trends from cities like Bengaluru suggest that customers increasingly appreciate the speed, effort and working conditions of delivery partners navigating congested roads and unpredictable traffic.
Instamart noted that tipping volumes tend to increase during festivals, late-night orders and rush deliveries – times when convenience is most valued.
Big numbers, bigger signals
The report also highlighted several exceptional spending patterns across India in 2025, including a ₹Order of one trolley from Hyderabad worth 4.3 lakhs and purchases of gold worth ₹15.16 lakh in Mumbai. But Bengaluru’s folding landmark stood aside — not as a symbol of luxury, but as an indicator of growing recognition for gig-economy workers.
Some of the most unusual Instamart orders in 2025
According to the fifth edition of Instamart’s annual order analysis, 2025 saw some eye-catching purchases that underscored how deeply fast-paced commerce has entered everyday life in India.
A gadget enthusiast from Hyderabad placed a ₹4.3 lakh per cart order for three iPhone 17 models, while a tech-intensive order from Noida saw customer spending ₹2.69 lakh at once for Bluetooth speakers, SSD and robotic vacuum cleaners.
Festive and occasion shopping also stood out. On Valentine’s Day, Indian users ordered nearly 666 roses on the platform every minute. In Mumbai, one customer made history by buying gold ₹15.16 lakh through Instamart, which is one of the highest value non-electronic transactions of the platform.
As Instamart summed up its year-end insights, India embraced faster shopping in 2025 – and Bengaluru led the way in tipping generosity.
