State to seek ₹200 crore for underground drainage in Kakinada, says MAUD minister

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister and Kakinada District Commissioner P. Narayana said the state government would seek ₹200 crore from the Center under the Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF) for the development of underground drainage in Kakinada city.

On Sunday, Mr. Narayana, City MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao, Kakinada Municipal Corporation Commissioner NVV Satyanarayana reviewed the ongoing and proposed projects in Kakinada city.

Addressing the officials, Mr. Narayana directed them to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) to get ₹200 crore from the Center for the underground drainage project.

Reviewing the ongoing works of the ₹354 crore Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Mr. Narayana said the state government would soon decide on the source of drinking water and the share of water to be allocated to Kakinada city. He said tenders have been floated for upgradation of parks and improvement of greenery in the city at a cost of ₹25 crore.
