BRS leaders on Saturday spoke about the death of students in boarding schools in Hyderabad.
HYDERABAD
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) claims that the Congress government’s continuous neglect of residential education schools in welfare departments has led to the death/suicide of 110 students since December 2023.
At a press conference here on Saturday, Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and RS party general secretary Praveen Kumar claimed that Srivarshitha, a student of a boarding school in Vangara, allegedly committed suicide as he could not bear the harassment of the school principal and vice-principal earlier this week.
Although Vangara, the native village of former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao, falls in the Husnabad constituency now represented by Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, he did not even react to the incident. Srivarshitha, a native of Huzurabad constituency, spoke to her parents at 6.30 am on the fateful day and ended her life at 7.30 am. It was so inhumane that the student’s body was sent to her native place in a tractor, they said.
Demanding immediate suspension of the school principal and his deputy, the BRS leaders demanded ex gratia of ₹ 1 crore for the deceased student’s family.
