
Sri Lanka’s Deputy High Commissioner for South India Ganesanathan Geathiswaran on Wednesday praised the government and people of India for their support in his country’s relief efforts following Cyclone Ditwah.
Addressing a gathering of over 150 people on the occasion of Sri Lanka’s 78th Independence Day, the Deputy High Commissioner, who hoisted the national flag at the event in Chennai, also appreciated the contribution of the Sri Lankan community and supporters in Tamil Nadu in the rescue operations.
The diplomat emphasized the political priorities of the Sri Lankan government in the area of national reconstruction, economic recovery, strengthening the rule of law and reconciliation. He also mentioned the government’s commitment to relief, rehabilitation and climate resilient development after Cyclone Ditwah.
