Special Electoral Rolls Observer Ashim Kumar Modi chaired a review meeting on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls – 2026 at Cuddalore Collectorate on Friday and reviewed the progress of electoral roll revision across the district.
The meeting attended by District Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar and election officials of nine assembly segments in Cuddalore district reviewed the status of drafts, deletions, missing entries from intensive revision lists of 2002 and 2005 and verification through special camps.
During the four extraordinary camp days – December 27 and 28, 2025 and January 3 and 4, 2026 – election officials received applications from 93,739 voters requesting new entries, corrections and deletions in the electoral rolls.
The officer was also informed that notices were issued to about 46,191 voters in the “no mapping” category, meaning that no voter information was available for them in the 2002 or 2005 SIR exercises and that field verification and direct inquiries had been completed.
Earlier, the Special Electoral Roll Observer also inspected SIR-related activities in Gundu Uppalavadi and Nanamedu in Cuddalore.
Officials said the Election Commission has extended the deadline to January 30 for filing requests for deletion, inclusion and correction. The management of the municipal district called on eligible citizens to take advantage of the extended period to file complaints and objections regarding the electoral rolls within the specified period.
