Southwest Monsoon advances, rainfall will continue in several states | Today’s news
The southwest the monsoon is likely to withdraw from more parts of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh and some areas of Telangana and north interior Karnataka during the next 2-3 days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Monsoon withdrawal line currently passes through parts of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Rain activity is expected to be isolated to scattered on October 9 and October 11. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to experience isolated to scattered rainfall during October 8-13.
Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi region and Punjab may also witness isolated to scattered rainfall during October 8-13. West Uttar Pradesh is likely to receive rain during October 8-9, while East Uttar Pradesh will receive rain from October 8-10. Further west, West Rajasthan is expected to receive isolated rainfall on 11-12 October, while East Rajasthan may receive rain on 12 October.
A few parts of central and eastern India are also likely to receive rain in the coming days. In Central India, Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh are likely to receive isolated to scattered precipitation from October 8 to 9. Chhattisgarh may also experience thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph with gusts up to 60 kmph on 8 October. East Madhya Pradesh is likely to experience isolated thunderstorms and lightning on October 8.
In East India, Bihar is likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall during October 8-10, while Odisha may receive rain till October 13. Jharkhand and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are expected to receive moderate to widespread rainfall on 8 October.
Gangetic West Bengal may experience widespread rain on October 8, with isolated showers on October 9-10. Andaman and Nicobar Islands are also likely to start seeing rain, with fairly widespread to widespread showers expected from October 9 to 13.
In southern Peninsular India, rain activity is expected to remain substantial. Kerala and Mahé are likely to experience moderate to widespread rain during October 8-11, while Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karajkal are expected to experience widespread rainfall on October 9.
