Smriti Mandhana, the celebrated athlete of the Indian women’s national cricket team, has been in the limelight ever since she celebrated her nuptials with music composer Palash Muchhal. A day after the wedding planned for November 23 was postponed, rumors are swirling about disagreements in their relationship due to the vice-captain of the women’s team’s social media activity.
Smriti Mandhana removed all wedding related posts from her social media accounts a day after her wedding was postponed indefinitely. Following this shocking development, social media has been flooded with speculation expressing concern over the state of their relationship.
In this complicated situation, Palashe’s sister Muchhala Palak responded to clear the rumours. In a post on Instagram stories, she wrote, “Due to Smriti’s father’s health, Smriti and Palash’s wedding has been postponed. I would like to request you all to respect the families’ privacy at this sensitive time.”
The wedding, originally planned for Sunday, was to take place in Mandhan’s hometown Sangli. The expected wedding day was preceded by grand Haldi, Mehndi and Sangeet celebrations, but the festivities were suddenly put on hold after Smriti’s father Shrinivas Mandhana suffered a sudden health scare.
Smriti Tuhin Mishra’s manager told Hindustan Times that concerns about Shrinivas Mandhana’s health first arose when he started showing symptoms of a possible heart problem during breakfast on the fateful day.
After his condition did not improve, Smriti’s family called an ambulance and rushed him to a hospital where he is under observation, HT reported. Confirming the 29-year-old cricket star’s immediate decision to postpone the wedding, Tuhin Mishra said: “Smriti is very clear – she wants her father to be well first and then she will get married.”
Notably, Smriti Mandhana shares a close bond with her father and considers him a key pillar in her cricketing journey.
After Smriti Mandhana cleared her profile of all photos and videos from the wedding celebrations – including the engagement posts and behind-the-scenes moments she shared earlier – public attention shifted from the celebration to concerns, sparking speculation. Meanwhile, the profile photos and videos of Palash Muchhal, whose health has also deteriorated according to media reports, remain intact. As both families are now prioritizing Shrinivas Mandhana’s recovery at this critical time, no new wedding date has been announced.
