Sooryavanshi hit just three fours during his 12-ball knock before he was caught by Sahan Arachchig off the bowling of Mohamed Shiraz. His dismissal left India A at 16-1 in the fourth match.India A elected to bat first after winning the toss. Wicket batsman Prabhsimran Singh also departed early for just two runs along with Sooryavanshi. However, Priyansh Arya and Ruturaj Gaikwad leveled the innings with a useful partnership before Arya ran out 32. Gaikwad remained unbeaten on 46 while skipper Tilak Varma was unbeaten on 18 as India A reached 118-3 after 28 overs.Ahead of the match, Sri Lanka vice-captain Niroshan Dickwella spoke about the excitement surrounding Sooryavanshi and the challenge of facing the youngster.“I’m happy to be a wicket keeper because I won’t get many balls when he’s batting. He’s an exciting talent and everyone loves the way BCCI is treating him at this age and giving him an opportunity to perform in the ‘A’ team. He’s not only a motivation for young Sri Lankan cricketers but young players around the world, but this list plays a lot. A good opportunity for him to showcase his talent, explore and show that he’s a very good short-format player, and you know, we are looking forward to this competition,” Dickwella told TOI.When asked about the plans to suppress the Indian batting, Dickwella said: “We are not trying to stop him, but we will try to do our basics first. We have some plans for him and the whole Indian batting line-up. But on the day, based on how he takes the bowlers, we will try to keep him down. The conditions are different here, on a flat pitch in Lanka, but I think we have reasons here on a flat pitch in Lanka.”
