In an effort to support Kerala’s transition to a knowledge-based economy, Sreenarayanaguru Open University (SGOU) has entered into a strategic academic partnership with Kerala Dinesh IT Systems Limited. The collaboration aims to launch a range of cutting-edge professional diploma and certificate programs specifically designed to meet future industry requirements and technological advancements. The formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the university headquarters in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jagathy Raj VP and syndicate members.
This partnership represents a major leap beyond traditional academic contracts by directly incorporating practical industry skills into the curriculum. As part of the first phase, five specialized professional courses focusing on a combination of theoretical study and practical training will be introduced. A key highlight of this initiative is the support provided by the University Placement Cell, which will help the successful candidates secure employment in their respective industries.
The initial line-up of programs includes highly technical disciplines such as port operations, logistics and customs compliance using AI, as well as a diploma in drone operations and services, which offers DGCA certification. Other courses cover advanced electronic security system design, additive manufacturing including 3D printing and smart manufacturing, and a specialized program in food processing, apparel and supply chain management.
“The main objective of this collaboration is to equip the youth of Kerala with cutting-edge technology expertise to make them competitive in the global job market. The partnership also intends to remain dynamic and plans to introduce more innovative courses in the future to keep up with the evolving market trends and ensure sustainable career growth for the students,” said the Vice-Chancellor.
